Excitement!!!

Today was a REALLY FREAKING BIG day in the Halo universe. Man...it's been ridiculous. Let's try to go over it shall we?

1. I loves lists XD
2. Ok seriously, Halo 3: ODST's release date was announced: Sept 22, 2009 =D
3. A gameplay trailer for H3: ODST was released. It's EPIC. It's gonna be so awesome to roam the streets of New Mombassa.
4. A new mode for the game was announced: Firefight. It's like Horde mode from GoW 2 for Halo. 4 people versus waves of Covenant forces with increasing difficulty.
5. Bungie revealed that a pre-order for H3: ODST will unlock Sgt Johnson for Firefight mode. Yeah!
6. This is a biggie. Bungie released a teaser trailer for...*bum bum bum* Halo: Reach. Omfg, the wondering it has started.
7. Also, when you buy H3: ODST, you'll get an invitation to the H:R beta. So I'll be in on that beta. =p

OK, so Halo: Reach really gets my brain churning. Reach was the military's main base planet. The headquarters for ONI and bunches of other departments was found there. It was eventually found and invaded by the Covenant. The fall of Reach is the event preluding Halo 1 and is gone into in great detail in Halo: First Stike. It tells the story of the Spartans who are sent to Reach to protect the planet. So the title makes me think of Reach. That's jut the title. From the trailer I learned two things: a planet (most likely Reach) is being attacked by the Covenant and Spartan-259 was sent to the surface along with others. If we assume the planet is Reach, then this places the trailer at the fall of Reach and the Spartans sent to the planet are the Spartans sent to defend Reach. However, Spartan-259 is never really identified. From the books, we know that there were 150 children chosen for the Spartan program out of approx 300 candidates. (I'm not sure about this. I'll need to re-read The Fall of Reach.) Now, Spartan-259 isn't particularly identified in the books, but I want to believe it's Fred. Fred was in command of the Spartans on Reach and Spartan-259 seems to be in charge. Although, Fred did split his force into two teams, so Spartan-259 could have been him. Again, I'll need to re-read First Strike to try and get an idea. Lawl, my brain is literally foaming at the mouth to find out. Soon, Bungie will give us more details. I can't wait!
